So, why bother with The Nicotine Diaries?
I was bored, had plenty of time to kill, and wanted to see if I could get a fully functional, halfway decent looking dynamic website online from the ground up. It only seemed natural for me to register a domain name, and set myself up with a proper web host.
The site utilizes two separate content management systems – ExpressionEngine, and Zenphoto. ExpressionEngine is a commercial CMS, and is used for everything but the gallery, which runs on Zenphoto. Zenphoto is an open source gallery CMS, highly customisable, and simple to use. The server itself is provided by the people at Jumpline hosting, and is a LAMP virtual server.
As for what to expect from the site, the usual random musings of my incoherent mind, the odd project or two, and a few photos every now and then. Once I start getting my programming under control, I may even put up a “Downloads” section, and let you download the stuff I create. I have a few ideas for programs I would like to build, its just a matter of learning to program then bringing them to life.
